cybersecurity in the modern era

What Cybersecurity Looks Like in the Modern Era

December 27, 2022/in General

The internet has changed our lives for the better in many ways. It has allowed us to connect with people over long distances, given us access to information at our fingertips, and truly change the way we do business. However, given how much we rely on the Internet, it has also become a place where we must be careful.

What cybersecurity looks like in the modern era

Cybersecurity is the protection of internet systems from cyber threats. The systems can include hardware, software, and data, and this practice is used by individuals and businesses to prevent unauthorized access to information. When the internet was in its infancy, cybersecurity was of less importance. Now, as the internet matures, cybersecurity is not optional.

It may be tempting to believe that cybersecurity attacks focus on businesses, but successful attacks mainly focus on individuals. Most successful cybersecurity attacks play off of human weaknesses, such as distracted users who open unfamiliar attachments without thinking, customers eager to take advantage of online discounts, or employees who are deceived by emails that appear to come from company executives.

Because more than 90% of targeted attacks reach their victims through their email, a major goal in cybersecurity is to utilize a layered email defense. This can be a combination of detecting known and emerging email attacks, taking action once a threat is discovered, and protecting against spoofed and look-alike domains.

When it comes to developing a cyber defense solution for your business, it is important to give both your employees and clients peace of mind when working with you. Tekelement’s end-to-end cybersecurity solutions provide actionable steps to secure systems more effectively, monitor and mitigate threats in real-time, and provide regular assessments and recommendations across a variety of frameworks. We can ensure that your business is protected and that your clients and employees have peace of mind when working with you.

What Kind of Industries Benefit from Cloud Hosting?

December 1, 2022/in General

Even if you don’t work in tech, you’ve probably heard of cloud hosting. Cloud hosting makes applications and websites accessible using cloud resources. It’s not like traditional hosting, which is usually housed on a single server. Instead, cloud hosting uses a network of connected virtual and physical cloud servers to host applications or websites, offering greater flexibility and scalability. Cloud hosting is an amazing resource for many industries, and here are three that benefit greatly from cloud hosting.

What kind of industries benefit from cloud hosting?

  1. First, the education industry benefits greatly from cloud hosting, which has proven to be an invaluable resource for schools. It is important for schools to have access to updated technology so they can provide the best education possible, and with a tight budget, this can be problematic. However, this is also a problem that a cloud service can immediately solve. Cloud hosting also allows students to access the information they need in one place and allows teachers to distribute assignments easily.
  2. Another industry that can benefit from cloud hosting is the legal industry. The legal industry is unique because it is one of the few industries that needs to store large quantities of files for long periods. Not only does this data need to be immediately accessible, but it also needs to be secure. This used to be a lot to ask, but now with cloud servers, it isn’t. Cloud services also offer advanced backup and easy recovery should files be misplaced.
  3. Finally, the automotive industry also benefits greatly from cloud hosting. It may seem unexpected, but the automotive industry relies very heavily on constantly available data. From parts and manuals to inventory, there are lots of aspects of the automotive industry that can be improved with cloud listing. In this industry, the best part about cloud hosting is that it not only makes the worker’s life easier but also improves customer service quality.

Cloud hosting is a virtual network of cloud servers that can host applications or websites and offer flexibility and scalability to various businesses and industries. It’s tempting to think of cloud hosting as some high-tech business, but it has real-world applications in a variety of industries, including the education industry, the legal industry, and the automotive industry. If you are interested in cloud hosting for your business, you can contact Tekelement and speak with our knowledgeable representatives today.

Technological Solutions in the Restaurant Supply Chain

October 5, 2022/in General

For a restaurant to run smoothly, there must be a sense of organization. Most restaurants utilize technological solutions to streamline things like table management, menu management, and rates. There are many technological solutions for restaurants, depending on what problems you need to solve.

Technological solutions in the restaurant supply chain

From fast food chains to upscale dining experiences, technological solutions can make running a restaurant much easier. No matter what type of restaurant you run, a point-of-sale system is mandatory. Depending on what best suits your business, point-of-sale systems can be simple or complex. For many businesses, ticket splitting, combo management, and customer history are important metrics to have on a system.

In our technologically-heavy world, many systems rely on the internet to stay running. However, there will be times when the internet goes down while your restaurant is open, and having a system that can operate despite disconnections is mandatory. Along with that, it’s important to centralize your management, especially if you have multiple points of sale, and be able to access your statistics from anywhere and on any device.

Finally, an advanced point-of-sale system can allow you to manage your daily menu and combos. This allows you to assess inventory in real time and keep up with out-of-stock items and consistent ordering. This also allows you to reduce product waste by cycling through promotions, specials, and combos.

Over the years, the restaurant industry has changed. Food has become more accessible, and people have obtained more free time. Technology has changed as well. No longer do we have to use manual points of sale. Technological solutions are readily available, but they are not all created equally. If you are looking for an expert point-of-sale system that can streamline your business, Tekelement has solutions for you.

what is cloud hosting

What is Cloud Hosting?

August 18, 2022/in General

Business owners in today’s business environment are always looking for ways to be more efficient with their time and energy. One of the ways they do this is with cloud hosting. Cloud hosting has many advantages, including increased server uptime, cost efficiency, and increased security. Investing in cloud hosting can be highly beneficial to your business, but before you invest, it’s important to know what cloud hosting is.

What is Cloud Hosting?

Cloud hosting may sound complex, but in its simplest form, it is an electronic structure that stores data across multiple computers. The data can be accessed through networks such as the Internet. This differs from traditional hosting because storage isn’t sequestered to a single server. Ultimately this leads to greater flexibility, accessibility, and scalability.

The biggest benefit to cloud hosting is that it increases server uptime. This means that whether you are hosting a website or simply storing files, you can access these things all the time. With traditional hosting, if the main computer went down, you didn’t have access to your files. With cloud hosting, since files are stored in multiple computers, if one computer goes down, another from the cluster takes over.

Cloud hosting is also cost-efficient because you do not have to worry about spending large amounts of money on infrastructure. With cloud hosting, you only have to pay for the services you need rather than for additional services and resources, even if you do not need them.

Finally, cloud hosting can also increase security within your business. Unlike traditional hosting, cloud hosting comes with an established infrastructure that already contains multiple layers of security. Most cloud service providers also offer secure and encrypted solutions, backup recovery, firewalls, and storage segregation.

If you are looking for a reliable and scalable hosting solution for your business, cloud hosting is the way to go. Cloud solutions can grow with your business, whether you have five employees or 500. An experienced cloud hosting company, such as Tekelement, can help you decide what type of cloud hosting is best and help you navigate the migration as well.

what is voip

What is VoIP

July 19, 2022/in General

VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, and it is a technology that allows you to make and receive phone calls and voice calls over the Internet instead of across landlines. Many people consider VoIP the alternative to traditional telephone service.

What is VoIP?

VoIP makes it easy for you to call people without needing traditional, local phone service or physical copper wires. To do this, all you need is a high-speed Internet connection and a VoIP service provider to handle the calls. VoIP uses your existing Internet connection and works by converting their phone calls into data sent over the Internet for a much lower cost than older telephone systems.

The major difference between the VoIP service and landline phones is that the landline phone is hardwired to a physical location using copper wires. On the other hand, a VoIP phone makes and receives calls through the Internet, so it is not locked into a specific location.

VoIP service has many benefits, including lower cost, high-quality sound, advanced features, worldwide calling, and phone numbers for a remote work team. These services have lowered business and residential phone bills by over 60%. These calls are also very clear, meaning the audio isn’t fuzzy or muffled.

With VoIP service, you can also utilize advanced features, including auto attendants, call recording, and call queues. These additional services are often included in business phone plans. The benefits don’t end there, however. You can call anyone worldwide, and you can also have a business phone number for a remote work team.

VoIP service has many benefits over traditional lines. Not only does it make calling assessable from wherever you are, but it also saves the user plenty of money over traditional phone lines. If you are interested in setting up a VoIP line for your business, you can contact our tech experts to get a free consultation

The Importance of Integrated POS Systems in Hospitality

June 27, 2022/in General

When running any business within the hospitality sector today, simplifying the customer experience is essential. Competition is rife today across the hospitality industry, so you have to stand out when customers walk in the door. So, a good solution is to have a good POS (point of sale) System. Having integrated POS systems in hospitality is incredibly necessary for the success of your business.

Any business that fails to invest in a fully integrated POS system will fall behind the competition. There are several reasons for this. For one, an integrated POS program will be operated by one specialist service provider (like TekElement).

Having a singular point of contact means that problems can be resolved by having one port of call, as opposed to having to call numerous hardware and software providers. This saves time, cuts down on troubleshooting, and ensures any downtime is minimized.

However, the importance of integrated POS systems in hospitality goes beyond technical solutions. For one, it allows you to have a place where you can better manage your customer interactions. You could, for example, benefit from having a self-service program. This allows people to order food and beverages, for instance, without having to speak to a member of staff.

Your staff can then remain focused on other matters, such as keeping the place in top condition and supporting customers.

You can also benefit from being able to order and pay from anywhere, whether it is their seats, an easy-to-use self-service booth, or, if they prefer, through a member of staff. Having more options for customers to order what they want, when they want, ensures that hospitality guests feel looked after and respected.

Integrated POS systems in hospitality are an essential service

Data is vital to a hospitality business. Working out what is selling and what is not is one thing; knowing what your customers are buying is even more important. Integrated POS systems mean that you could have more data about what is selling, what each guest is buying, and what their preferences are. Little things like understanding how they take their coffee, or what ‘the usual’ is, can ensure guests feel like you really know them. This encourages repeat stays and increases the likelihood of positive feedback, which is incredibly useful in Hospitality services.

By making sure you can deliver the best customer experience, then, POS systems in hospitality make everything easier. All of your team can quickly and easily get to grips with the process so they can support guests more comfortably. Now, there is no need for having to check old files or take wild guesses on data, customer interactions, and preferences. With an integrated POS system, everything is there.

Worried your staff might not be up to scratch with such a system? Platforms like TekElement provide training. Now, your staff can easily get to grips on the essentials of the service so they can handle tasks and take orders seamlessly.

Can you see, then, why so many business owners in hospitality are investing in integrated POS systems? Out of all of the investments that you could make today, this could be among the most beneficial long-term.

At TekElement, a Dallas-based MSP company, we believe that innovation is the cornerstone by which organizations succeed or fail.
